“I am fundamentally a visual artist working with painting and drawing as my primary media. For many years, figurative representation was my language. But seven years ago, my expression changed, and I began working with symmetry and geometry in my painting. Alongside my artistic practice, yoga and meditation have been a significant part of my life for the past seventeen years.
I was educated at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm, and throughout my professional life teaching has also played an important role. My main focus as a teacher has been the knowledge of depicting reality. I have also incorporated yoga and meditation into my teaching. I have primarily taught at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm, but also at the Academy in Salzburg.
During my stay at Björkö, I will seek out nature in order to translate and continue my work with symmetrical forms, using materials gathered from the forest and the ground. The camera will be my tool. This residency opens a new door in my practice.”
