Amanda Cardell

Cardell works with visual art based on movement, textiles, and sculpture, often engaging with questions about how the visual is allowed to take place in our shared public space. With great sensitivity to the specific site, the room, the materials, and the process, she creates staged narratives.
Amanda was born in Ljungby and educated at art academies in Norway, Sweden, and Belgium. She works as a visual artist and art project leader. She has exhibited her work at, among other places, the Swedish Cultural Institute during Paris’ cultural night Nuit Blanche, the Vigeland Museum in Oslo, and Eskilstuna Art Museum.
At Björkö Konstnod, she will complete a work for Ljungby Municipality within the framework of Stationssamhällen, Region Kronoberg. For this, she needs a larger studio space, which BKN provides.
The work’s theme is proximity and distance, and she is creating a two‑part textile piece—made largely from reused textile materials—with literary inspiration from the space epic Aniara by Harry Martinson.
