On 12 August 2026, BKN welcomed artist Maria Magnusson for a one-day workshop exploring alternative, analog, and eco-friendly photographic processes.
The workshop focused on two experimental techniques: caffenol and phytograms. The day began with a short presentation and introduction to alternative photographic practices, followed by a hands-on session where participants mixed their own caffenol developer and developed analog film in 135 mm or 120 mm formats.
In the afternoon, the workshop continued with phytograms, a camera-less photographic process using plants and natural materials. Working site-specifically, participants experimented with the surrounding environment and explored new ways of creating photographic images.
Through practical experimentation and shared knowledge, the workshop offered participants an opportunity to discover more sustainable approaches to analog photography and to explore the creative possibilities of unconventional photographic processes.
BKN would like to thank Maria Magnusson and everyone who participated in the workshop. This workshop has been done in collaboration with Nordic Analog Network.
