Often our creative process is diluted by financial insecurity and a lack of basic infrastructure. The opportunity to be able to concentrate on the research and production of a new or ongoing project is deeply valuable for our development as artists in the global south.  

Addressing themes of fear, nostalgia, memory and admiration. Through a delicate interplay of light and shadow, Palatnic challenges the limits of the intangible as a point of view. Her artistry is characterized by a compelling blend of vulnerability and precision, inviting us to confront the complexities of our own emotional experiences.

During the stay at BKN  I’m dedicating myself intensively on a deeper understanding of the emotional landscapes throughout human existence and experiences. Extending my initial studies towards a production of larger paintings on the themes of nostalgia, fear and sheltering through the abstract windows of my paintings.

The arts is to join WAP/BKN at Supermarket Art Fair in the first week of April  with her public walk THE MURMURS FROM FUTURE  
A team of archaeologists dig through layers of the Supermarket Art building and site. They make up stories, make an effort to stay close to possible realities of the past. True facts merge with fiction, the world of the examiner seeps into the findings of the site. The Art Fair is an archaeological event of the past, that once brought together artists, curators, collectives from around the world.

 The public is given Virtual Reality headgear that immerses them in Supermarket Art 2025, a computer-generated environment with scenes that appear to be real appears before their eyes. Passed through their hands are objects from the past, remnants of works of art, parts of the ruin once building before them, tools used by artists in 2025. A guide gives a tour, sharing findings of the team of archaeologists.

Throughout Supermarket Art 2025, the architect, artist and teacher Aurike Quintelier will give guided tours from the perspective of a fictional future archaeologist, with a strong spatial and architectural focus. She shares stories from artists, curators and collectives, passes along works of art that seem to have disappeared. It is no longer clear what is fiction or what is real.”

My name is Juji Cowles and I’m a 21 year old experimental fashion designer and textile artist! I grew up in Los Angeles California, and I own a small business called Heavenly Mirage. I’ve been knitting and crocheting since I was 8 years old, and now I’m branching into other textile arts like leather making, latex production, and weaving.

During my stay at BKN I plan on making a small collection of garments using new textile techniques I’ve been working on. I plan to incorporate weaving, hand made fish leather, latex, and other techniques in my pieces.

These garments will reflect my brand and personal identity, as a lot of big changes have been happening in my life recently. My goal is to push myself outside of my comfort zone and learn something new!

“My work as a painter is a stream‑of‑consciousness process that results in symbolic, semi‑abstract imagery populated by spirit beings in dream landscapes and cities. My art is directly connected to my work as a death doula and relates to the deep psychology of death and rebirth — how life and spirit move, and how human relationships bring life into existence.” — SM

The art I create is directly connected to my work as an End of Life Guide and relates to the deep psychology of death and rebirth — how life and spirit transform, and how human relationships make life possible.

My work has always been shaped by the intersections of humanity, imaginary worlds, and the end of life, reimagining spaces with otherworldly figures in landscapes drawn from symbolic dream imagery.

In January 2025, my studio burned down in the California fires. In the ashes, I discovered remnants that I want to explore together with natural elements and the inspiration of a new place. Strangely, a few paintings burned into circles and half‑circles, and a vintage rug burned into two circles. A digital drawing tablet fused with a jacket from the 1980s and turned into an oval sculpture.

The way these objects from the fire transformed into circular shapes fascinates me as a way of understanding the nonlinear meaning of life. I want to work with these objects in dialogue with other artists to explore the simultaneous destruction and reconfiguration created by fire, expanding them into complete works using paint, canvas, natural materials, and textiles.

Ivana Blanco Gross is an American post-minimalist conceptual artist born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She studied at the University of Buenos Aires and at the Royal Academy of Art in The Netherlands. Her works explores the different perceptions of location across geographical space, translating her own connections to people and place into color works and installations. She uses different media to express content, such as paint, text, photography, object development, installations, video, and sound. Her latest projects are based on the deterioration of the Arctic and the environmental impact of the new Silk Road Initiative. Dr Gross lectures in universities and colleges as well as congresses and conferences.

Land, Landscape, and Territory

At the foundation of my artistic practice lies the exploration of diverse perceptions of location across the geographical expanse. My endeavor involves translating my connections with the people and the land into vibrant color works and multi-sensory installations. Specifically, I emphasize the concept of location and its relevance to the land through the interplay of line, color, sound, and geography.

Over the past eighteen months, I have been engaged in a project entitled “Circular Sound.” This project delves into the deterioration of the Arctic Circle, the surrounding areas of northern Canada, Alaska, Greenland and Scandinavia, and its profound impact on the overall well-being of the planet. It comprises a sound, photographic, and video installation that commenced during an artist residency in Finland.

During my upcoming residency, I intend to record the environmental sounds of the area, locate and photograph the surroundings, and potentially create a series of drawings and sketches that will serve as the foundation for the final outcome of the residency.

I would welcome the opportunity to interact with the local community, contribute to an open workshop on personal map creation and/or present my work and the process I follow as I develop ideas.
