BKN Open Call<\/strong><\/h1>

PROGRAM<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>

Bj\u00f6rk\u00f6 Konstnod (BKN)<\/strong> is located in two former school buildings in the northern Stockholm Archipelago, where the forest meets the sea. The residency is rooted in a collective ethos that embraces the idea of thinking together, learning together<\/strong>.<\/p>

The smaller school building provides accommodation for residents, while the larger building serves as a space for both individual and collaborative work. It houses a shared kitchen and living room, where communal dinners and group activities take place, as well as a library, a shower room, and four toilets.<\/p>

We welcome artists, researchers, writers, and curators working within the field of contemporary art. The residency offers four studios, two large and two small, suitable for a wide range of practices, including painting, drawing, sculpture, and installation. Facilities also include a wood and crafts workshop, spaces for working with natural and organic materials, and resources for sound and video production. Residents may borrow a portable camera, green screen, projector, and audio recording equipment.<\/p>

In addition, BKN features an analogue darkroom and a dedicated sewing and weaving area equipped with a sewing machine and a traditional wooden loom.<\/p>

We are happy to support applicants in their efforts to secure funding by providing letters of invitation.<\/p>

Winter & Autumn<\/strong> art residency program has a special offer for BKN members: <\/span><\/p>

1st October 2026 \u2013 28th February 2027 <\/span><\/p>

One-year BKN membership fee \u2013 100 SEK <\/strong><\/span><\/p>

1 week accommodation + studio for BKN members \u2013 500 SEK<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

Application<\/h2>

Your application should include the following:<\/p>

  • A one-page description of yourself and your proposed residency project (PDF), including:
    • Your preferred residency period<\/li>
    • An explanation of how you plan to finance your stay<\/li><\/ul><\/li>
    • Five images of relevant work (PDF)<\/li>
    • Your CV (PDF)<\/li><\/ul>

      (You may create your application in PowerPoint and export it as a single PDF file.)<\/em><\/p>

      Please ensure that your application follows these guidelines. Incomplete applications or applications that do not comply with the instructions will not be reviewed or responded to.<\/p>

      How to Apply for Funding for Your Residency Project<\/h2>

      BKN encourages artists to apply for mobility grants and project funding. Financial support is often available through national arts organisations, regional or municipal authorities, and private foundations.<\/p>

      To assist applicants, BKN provides the following (non-exhaustive) list of potential funding sources:<\/p>

      • For artists from the Nordic and Baltic countries:<\/strong> Nordic Culture Point<\/li>
      • For artists from European countries:<\/strong> Culture Moves Europe<\/li>
      • For artists based in Sweden:<\/strong> The Swedish Arts Council (Kulturr\u00e5det<\/em>) and the Swedish Arts Grants Committee (Konstn\u00e4rsn\u00e4mnden<\/em>)<\/li>
      • For artists from all countries:<\/strong> On the Move \u2013 Funding<\/li><\/ul>

        Other Residency Opportunities<\/h2>

        BKN Studios for Local Artists<\/h3>

        Local artists may use the studios during working hours (10:00-20:00) by arrangement.<\/p>

        Studio fee:<\/strong><\/p>

        • 150 SEK per day<\/li>
        • 1,000 SEK per week<\/li><\/ul>

          BKN Art Camping<\/h3>

          We also offer the possibility of camping in the forest near the residency. Campers have access to an outdoor grill, shared kitchen, art lounge, shower, toilets, and a small studio workspace.<\/p>

          The weekly fee for a campsite for up to three people, including access to the small studio, is 1,200 SEK per week<\/strong>.<\/p>

          The fee may vary depending on which facilities the artist wishes to use.<\/p><\/div>
